    US Secretary Of State Blinken Hails Kenyans For Upholding Peaceful Electoral Process

    WASHINGTON DC, USA,Sept, 6 – USA Secretary of State Antony Blinken has congratulated President-elect William Ruto after his victory was upheld by the Supreme Court of Kenya, in a unanimous decision.

    “The United States congratulates William Ruto on his election as president of Kenya, as confirmed by the Supreme Court on September 5.  We also congratulate the people of Kenya on the conclusion of a peaceful electoral process,” read a section of the statement from Blinken.

    Blinken hailed USA and Kenya’s long standing historical relationship in promoting democracy, security and economic prosperity further saying that the Joe Biden administration is looking forward to enhancing their partnership with Ruto and his new government.

    He also hailed Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga for abiding by the Supreme Court verdict.

    “We commend Raila Odinga and other candidates for abiding by the Supreme Court ruling.  Transparent electoral processes and the peaceful adjudication of disputes are testaments to the strength of democratic institutions,”

    Ruto is now set to be sworn-in on Tuesday next week with scores of world leaders expected to grace the ceremony which will be held at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi county.
