    NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept, 8 – September 13, 2022, has been declared a public holiday ahead of president Elect William Ruto’s swearing-in ceremony at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani In Nairobi county.

    “It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, declares Tuesday the 13th September 2022 , o be a public holiday, being the day of the swearing-info the president elected deputy president-elect.,” read the notice by Matiang’i.

    Plans are already in full motion ahead of Tuesday next week – where president Elect William Ruto is set to be sworn into office as the country’s fifth president.

    Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua who also chairs the assumption of office committee said that they held their first meeting after the Supreme Court verdict that upheld Ruto’s win and are on course to facilitate a smooth transition.

    In line with the momentous occasion, Tuesday next week will be declared a public holiday.

    “In keeping up with President Kenyatta’s commitment to facilitate a smooth transition to the incoming administration, I am pleased to notify the nation that we convened a meeting this morning to address the progress of the change of administration that has been ongoing from August 12, 2022,” said Kinyua.

    The swearing-in shall take place between 10 am and 2 pm followed by the swearing-in of Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua.

    Several notable figures from the Kenya Kwanza coalition including, Davis Chirchir, former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, and Gladys Boss Shollei among others were present during the meeting.

    “With the election cycle now behind us, the setting in and imagination ceremony is an opportunity for the nation to not only witness and usher in our country’s 5th administration but also celebrate the strength and vibrancy of our constitutional and democratic processes which differentiates Kenya from many countries in Africa and beyond,” he said.

    Military drills ahead of the ceremony are expected to be conducted until all is in place for the big day.
