MOMBASA, Kenya, Sept, 9 – Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha has on Thursday commissioned phase two Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms in Mombasa County.

In his tour to the county, the CS commissioned Star of the Sea Girls secondary school in Mvita sub county, Maweni secondary and Frere town secondary schools in Nyali Sub County and Kajembe secondary school in Jomvu Sub County, respectively.

Magoha said that the completion of the CBC classrooms is moving on well and that the remaining work is at 97 percent completion which he promised to deliver before he hands it over to the new administration.

“The second phase is at 97 percent that is 9800 classrooms across the country and we are hopeful that by next week we will have hit the 100 percent mark and the 10,000 classrooms will be delivered,” said Magoha.

The CS called upon the incoming administration to consider the value for money in which the current government has invested in the education sector.

He urged them to embark on the additional work that is remaining to ensure the curriculum is achieved to its best and the money allocated to be spent on a child should not go anywhere else.

“This system will see that the poor child gets justice and equal education as that child of a working class parent. It is my hope that the new leadership will continue supporting it to its best,” added Magoha.

He noted that it is extremely important for the poor Kenyan child to get justice so that the children of the working class can get peace in the future; warning that misappropriation of money while on duty is unacceptable.

Magoha said that the education ministry is not for playing politics but a serious one as every family has a child. “I want to advise whoever is coming in that the work of this ministry is not in Jogoo house in Nairobi, 10 percent is there 90 percent in the field,” he said.

The CS said new leadership will make CBC better as everyone has their interests in the child.
