NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept, 12 – Rwandan President Paul Kagame jetted into the country earlier this evening ahead of President-elect William Ruto’s inauguration.
Kagame was received on arrival by Philip Githiora, Kenya’s High Commission Kigali Charge D’Affaires, and Amb George Orina.
Shortly after, he headed to Ruto’s Karen office where they held talks on his inauguration as well as tentative plans to improve bilateral relations between the two countries.
“Kenya and Rwanda have a long-established relationship based not just on geography but mutual interests and long-standing partnerships on economic and security issues. We will seek to build and expand our cooperation for the mutual benefit of the citizens of our countries,” said Ruto.
Ruto this evening also received the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat who congratulated him on his election.
“Kenya will continue to play a prominent role in peace and stability efforts in the region so as to further Africa’s economic development,” he told Mahamat.
