KAKAMEGA, Kenya, Sept, 26 – Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has advised area residents to be cautious over the outbreak of the killer Ebola disease.
Speaking at Shitsitswi Primary School in Butere Sub County on Saturday during the homecoming ceremony for Marama Central MCA Philip Maina, the Governor said the County is putting in place measures to contain the spread of the disease from the neighbouring counties.
“I direct my CECM for Health to make sure all measures are in place to contain the spread of this disease in our County,” he said.
The governor said he would complete all ongoing development projects started by the pioneer governor before embarking on new ones.
“From the handing over report I got yesterday, there are many tangible development projects that have not been completed. I will not abandon them but make sure they are allocated money to be completed and operationalized,” he added.
He noted that the projects were in the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) and that abandoning them would be doing a disservice to the electorate.
The County boss assured MCAs of his support to ensure all parts of the County enjoy the fruits of devolution.
The Governor used the occasion to thank the residents of Butere Sub County for voting for him overwhelmingly.
Maina thanked the electorates for having faith in him to serve as their MCA for a second term.
MCAs led by the Deputy Speaker Benard Shitiabayi drummed up support for Maina to be elected as Leader of Majority in the Assembly saying he has a proven development track record.
David Ndakwa who leads the Minority side in the Assembly said they would play their oversight role to ensure that the Governor delivers as he pledged in his manifesto during the campaign period.
Maina also thanked Barasa for accepting to grace the occasion despite his busy schedule.
Sub County Administrator Joyce Wafukho among other senior officials was present.
