NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct, 16 – A Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officer is in police custody for allegedly soliciting a bribe.
According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the accused lady is a customs o based at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
She is said to have demanded a bribe in order to Consignee’s laptop.
“The consignee had gone to the Airport to collect a HP Laptop sent to him by a relative from Texas, USA via DHL,” said EACC.
The Anti Corruption agency said that the consignee received a message from DHL that his consignment had arrived at the airport and he was required to pay a tax of Sh100,974 for the laptop HP Spectre X360.
It was until the arrived to pick it up that he was asked for a bribe according to EACC.
