NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct, 21 – A somber mood engulfed Pangani neighbourhood in Nairobi county after a crane operator was killed in a construction accident.
According to police, the operator lost his life when the crane he was operating fell from the ninth floor of the building under construction.
Witnesses further said Maxwell Wafula aged 25 years was busy at work operating the crane when it crumbled killing him on the spot.
Police were called to the scene and ordered the construction be stopped pending investigations into the incident. The body has been moved to the local mortuary.
Police say there has been a spike of such accidents at construction sites and want managers to take protective measures to address them.
