NAIROBI,Kenya, Oct, 26 – The National Council of NGOs has condemned extrajudicial killings within the country and called for an end to the vice which is causing suffering to many families.

Speaking on Tuesday at Nyayo house during a press briefing, the chairman of the council Stephen Cheboi said that there has been an increase in extrajudicial killings within the country.

“In the recent days, there has been an increase in extra judicial killing cases within the country taking away the lives of innocent people,” said Cheboi.

He said that there is need for fairness, justice, and peace to be maintained without eliminating people’s lives urging all Kenyans to ensure that they protect each other and respect the rule of law.

Cheboi appealed to the government to conduct thorough investigations on the killing of innocent people within the country. “Justice should be served to the victims of extra-judicial killing within the country like in the recent case of the murder of the Pakistan journalist,” said Cheboi.

A member of the National Council of NGOs, Jane Mumbi stated that most murder cases are as a result of mental instability.

“The government should put up mental facilities to curb mental disorder as it is one of the major causes of extra-judicial killing,” said Mumbi.
