NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct, 31 – Aden Duale has formally taken over the reigns at Ulinzi house as Defence Cabinet Secretary during an elaborate transition exercise At Ulinzi House from outgoing CS Eugene Wamalwa.
Duale thanked president William Ruto for appointing him to the docket saying that he would work closely with the top leadership brass at the Kenya Defence Forces in order to improve their operations.
“I will ensure their welfare is taken care of and I will ask parliament for more allocation for approval. I assure you my commitment to the service and that our teams in peace missions will be fully equipped,” he said.
Duale while pledging to maintain the highest levels of integrity and discipline within the service also said that KDF officers will also be deployed in various parts of the country experiencing insecurity.
“We shall defend and protect our territorial integrity, we shall deploy troops to restore order in any part of the country with the approval of the national assembly,” he said.
Kenya which has been collaborating with neighbouring countries in various security engagements has promised to build on the existing foundations.
Meanwhile, Outgoing CS Wamlwa wished Duale the best as he executes his mandate.
“I congratulate him as he takes over as the 11th CS Defence since independence. Just as Monica Juma grew up in the military, Duale who had military connections will settle in well,” said Wmalwa.
