NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov, 6 – The Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin said the national police service is on schedule to scale up efforts to combat the threats of terrorism across the country.

Amin said that security agencies are working with key stakeholders to ensure that the tentacles of terror do not choke the country’s security amid efforts to combat violent extremism.

Recent terror attacks in neigbouring Somalia have seen the government boost security and increase surveillance amid the threat to international peace, stability, and development.

Speaking at a workshop in Mombasa, on Saturday, Amin acknowledged the gains made so far through the multi-agency security framework and committed to supporting efforts by the government and all other stakeholders involved in the sustained anti-terror war.

“We will stay focused on the threat to the end,” he said.

Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji  attended the event to launch HAKI Africa publication of Good Practices for Enhancing Access to Justice in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism.

He called for strengthening inter/intra-agency collaboration/ cooperation to tackle the scourge.

“Organized criminal syndicates and terrorist organizations continue to evolve and exploit technology and digital evolution.  The success of this project is an example of the gains made through our adoption of a “whole-of-society approach” in our cooperation with CSOs,” he said.

He also called on the criminal justice sector actors to be sensitive to the needs of society and the citizens they have been called to serve.

He urged them to adopt a human-rights-centric approach and to combat terrorism and counter violent extremism within the rule of law.
