NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 9 – Kenya Airways (KQ) has said that normal operations of the airline will resume on Friday, November 11 following a four-day pilots’ strike.
The announcement comes a day after the Employment and Labour Relations Court ended the strike that had grounded KQ flights.
The airline CEO Allan Kilavuka said that despite the strike coming to an end the airline was partially operating for the better part of Wednesday.
According to estimates, the airline lost Sh1.2 billion in the four days with the management saying that normalcy will require efforts from all its employees.
Pilots who resumed duty had to wait to be scheduled but most are awaiting clearance since they had cited illness making them not fit to fly.
Following the strike, KQ was forced to transfer its passengers to other airlines through airports in Addis Ababa, Dar es Salaam, Entebbe, Johannesburg and Harare.
