NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 9 – There was panic at the official Nairobi residence a senior British High Commission official when security stumbled on an “abandoned bomb”.
Security at the residence of the First Secretary at the High Commission raised alarm saying they had spotted an object they believed to be a bomb at the entrance in Kilimani area Tuesday, November 8.
Police rushed to the scene whereby they established that a cylindrical object with writings on it had been left there by unknown people.
The object had the word “bomb” on it. Experts from the bomb disposal unit at the DCI headquarters arrived at the scene and secured the object for safe destruction.
The officials said there was no cause for alarm and that the said bomb was fake.
Such fake alarms have been on the rise amid calls for action to stop the trend.
Police say the trend may compromise security and pose a serious threat.
A team of detectives is investigating the source of the object and its motive.
