TAITA TAVETA, Kenya, Nov 11 – Police and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers arrested two people transporting ethanol in Taita Taveta.
According to a police report the two, Thomas Ngumi Koimburi and Christopher Kimario were transporting the ethanol that had not been customized ethanol in a lorry.
They were arrested at Darajani bypass area along Voi – Arusha Highway.
The officers who were acting on a tip-off upon making the arrest found Ethanol Spirit in 200-litre drums whose value is not yet known.
It is suspected that the ethanol was smuggled into the country from Tanzania, concealed under nets of onions and bags of sawdust.
“The matter referred to KRA investigation branch Z for action'” the statement reads.
The two suspects will be arraigned at the Taveta Law Courts.
