WEST POKOT, Kenya, Nov 14 – An Assistant County Commissioner and a police officer have been arrested after the officer shot and seriously injured a barmaid in Kacheliba, West Pokot County on Monday morning.

Kongelai Division ACC Moses Ekisa and the Constable Isaac Oshome of Kongelai police post, while armed with an AK47 rifle, went to Liquid Bar at around 6am and asked the barmaid, Miriam Nelimo 28 to open and sell beer to them.

The administrator who is said to be having a love affair with the maid then picked a quarrel with a man they found sitting with the woman.

They moved outside where the officer shot the woman in the stomach.

The victim was rushed Kacheliba Sub-County Hospital before being transferred to Kapenguria County Hospital in a serious condition.

“A manhunt for the two was launched and they were later arrested. The AK47 rifled loaded with 29 rounds of ammunition were also recovered and kept as exhibit,” police said.
