NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 18 – Sirisia MP John Waluke is a free man after the Court of Appeal released him on a Sh10 million pending the hearing of his appeal.
He was granted an alternative of Sh20 million with surety.
Waluke moved to the appellate court to challenge his 67 years’ jail term or a Sh2 billion fine handed out by the anti-corruption court over the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Sh300 million scandal.
Waluke was convicted alongside Grace Wakhungu for defrauding the NCPB Sh300 million. The two moved to the High Court to challenge this decision and the High Court on October 6, agreed with the sentence by the anti-corruption court and upheld the sentence and the fine.
