NYANDARUA, Kenya, Nov 30 – A Police Constable was on Tuesday morning found dead in his house at Tumaini police post in Mirangine, Nyandarua County.

According to the medical records found in his house, Constable Alvin Nzole was undergoing some undisclosed treatment and is suspected to have taken some vodka before he died.

“The officers found the body of their colleague lying in bed and beside it was a half-consumed bottle of 250ml Chrome Vodka and an abdomen X-ray from Mediheal hospital in Nakuru,” police said.

Police said they had launched investigations and that the samples collected will be subjected to further analysis.

The deceased officer’s colleague Constable Boniface Mwaliko said he was to be accompanied by the deceased to provide security during the ongoing national examinations.

However, when the colleague failed to turn up, he proceeded to is house and knocked but there was no response. This prompted him to alert his senior who proceeded to the house and realized it was locked from inside.

They forced the door open and found the lifeless body lying in bed. The body was transferred to JM Kariuki hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

At least 10 sudden death reports have been reported by the police in the last two days.

On Tuesday evening, for example, Alvin Alukhava reported that he went back to their residence in Kasarani where he found his wife, Florence Kaari lying dead in their matrimonial bed. The body had no physical injuries, according to the police.

Elsewhere, a Police Constable attached to Muthangari police station is admitted in hospital after he accidentally shot himself in the foot.

Constable Benedict Mwenda reported that he saw a motorcycle suspiciously entering the station from a foot path and he immediately cocked his rifle.

“He accidentally shot himself on the left foot. It was later established that the rider was a police officer who was retiring to his residence within the station, from work,” police said.
