NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 15 – A Tanzanian was shot and wounded on Wednesday night during a robbery incident in Majengo slums, Nairobi.
The man who has since been identified as Arustus Silaton was shot by robbers who were riding a motorcycle.
According to witnesses, Silaton was in the company of his two friends when the two gunmen accosted them and robbed them of their valuables including cash and mobile phones.
Silaton is said to have resisted giving them his mobile phone which led the gunmen to shoot him in his left leg.
He was rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital where he was treated and remains in stable condition.
Nairobi Police Boss Adamson Bungei called on Nairobians to be vigilant and to report suspicious activities to the police adding that when confronted by robbers to cooperate to avoid being injured.
He said that police have heightened security in the city as we approach the festive season.
