NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 20 – Senate has formed an 11-member committee that will probe Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza following her impeachment by the Members of the County Assembly.
The members of the committee are Nairobi’s Edwin Sifuna, Boni Khalwale of Kakamega, Jackson Mandago of Uasin Gishu, Karungo Thangwa of Kiambu, and Ali Roba of Mandera.
Others are Esther Okenyuri (nominated), Peris Tobiko (nominated), Eddy Gicheru Oketch (Migori), Joseph Githuku Kamau (Lamu), Agnes Kavindu Muthama (Machakos) and Johnes Mwaruma (Taita Taveta).
The committee will then submit their recommendations in 10 days’ time and the house will vote on whether to uphold her impeachment.
Mwangaza was been impeached on December 14, after 67 Members of the County Assembly unanimously voted in favour of the motion.
The MCAs accused her of gross violation of the Constitution, nepotism, illegal appointments, unlawful dismissals and misleading campaigns against other leaders.
