NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 21 – The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results will be released today, December 21, by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
As has been in the past, Machogu is expected to first present the results to President William Ruto at State House before announcing them at Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) headquarters at Mtihani House.
Class eight pupils wrote the exams between November 28-30, while Grade six students were writing the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) the first test under the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
A total of 2,531,785 candidates participated in the exercise, with 1,244, 188 doing KCPE and 1,287,597 sat KPSEA.
The KPSEA pupils are waiting for direction from the national government on what to do next since they were expected to join Junior Secondary School, but Ruto’s government announced that they would continue with the curriculum in Primary Schools.
Ruto after receiving the task force report in CBC also announced that the results of KPSEA will not be used to determine where the pupils will be placed at Junior Secondary School.
He added that the KPSEA exam results would be used to draw lessons and feedback for the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders on how to improve CBC.
