KITALE, Kenya Dec. 3 -A businessman man was on Tuesday morning robbed of Sh2.2 million by robbers riding on a motorcycle in Kitale town, Trans Nzoia County.
Deep Jatan Gadda and the director of Anmol Drapers Limited reported he was going to deposit the cash at I&M Bank at Mega Centre, Kitale town when he was confronted by two armed robbers in a motorcycle without registration number plates.
The robbers were wearing helmets and one of them was armed with an AK47 rifle. They forced the businessman and his driver out of their car at gunpoint before robbing them of the cash.
Police said the two then escaped towards Alakara Hotel to an unknown destination.
There has been an increase in robberies cases involving gangs on motorcycles across the country, according to the latest police reports.
The robbers have been targeting pedestrians and, in some cases, motorists especially in Nairobi.
