NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 11 – President William Ruto has said that his administration will support the Police fully to carry out their work.
Ruto was speaking during the pass-out of 1995 recruits at the Administration Police Training College in Embakasi, Nairobi.
He said that the government would equip them with modern tools so that they can fight emerging crimes and will also look at their welfare.
According to Ruto, the government was looking at giving the police better accommodation through the affordable housing project.
He said that the recently formed task force will help his government solve some of the issues in the service that he said are endemic.
President Ruto also said that he had given instructions to Interior CS Professor Kithure Kindiki to ensure that the officers who had been deployed to fight cattle rustlers are well taken care of.
He said that during his tenure the police will be left to do their work and that they would not be used in politics, sentiments echoed by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
“You police will not be used by politicians to do politics but we want you to arrest criminals and ensure Kenyans’ property is safe,” said Gachagua.
Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome said that the Police would live up to the oath they had taken to serve everyone with equality, without fear or favour.
