NAIROBI, Kenya, January 13 – Businessman Francis Kiambi who was found dead in his Karen home on Monday, January 9, was struggling financially in the months leading to his death.
Close family members who are still struggling to come to terms with the death of their kin say that the businessman’s workers had divulged to them that things were not looking good for the tycoon.
“Before his last moments, some of his workers were coming home and would say that things were not good. The business had slowed down,” said his sister Jessica Kajugu.
“Even as we observed him, we knew that there was a problem. We did not know his struggles in his business, we just got a hint that things were not rosy,” she stated.
Kiambi was found dead on Monday morning at his Karen home. Police say that the businessman slept in a separate room after the wife declined to be a guarantor in a Sh2 billion loan Kiambi was seeking.
His death was reported to the police by his wife Mary Waigwe Muthoni, who said that he could be heard snoring in his room throughout Sunday night and the early hours of Monday.
She said that the two spent the night in different rooms after returning from a meeting with their lawyer at the Smoke Bar and Restaurant which is located in Karen. Police confirmed that Kiambi died at around 9 am on Monday.
According to his family, the businessman wanted the loan to start another business.
