Kenya, Jan 18 – Four people died after drowning in Kiambu and Kajiado counties between Monday, January 16 and Tuesday, January 17.

In the Tuesday incident, a couple drowned after their car plunged into a dam within the Toll area in Juja, Kiambu County.

According to witnesses, an argument broke out between the two, and the man is said to have ignited the car and driven into the dam.

The body of the woman was retrieved by divers on the same day with the body of the man and the car getting retrieved the next day. Their bodies were taken to City Mortuary.

The two are said to have gone to the spot to make merry, with residents saying that the area had become famous for people who come to relax with their vehicles.

Two teenagers drowned in the Oloolera village of Kajiado county on Monday.

Timothy Tumanka, 18, and Mathew Meiken, 17, are said to have gone to the Olenarau river for a swim when the incident happened.

Police say that one of the boys entered the river and started to drown and his brother tried to save him but also drowned.

They were in the company of their other sibling, herding cattle.
