NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 20 – A city house help who allegedly fondled her employer’s two-year-old son’s private parts has been charged with sexually assaulting the minor.

Joyce Mwangi was on Wednesday charged at the Makadara Law Courts with a second count of indecent act with a child after she was captured on CCTV indecently touching the minor.

The incident happened on January 16 at the employer’s house in Soweto, Embakasi East in Nairobi.

She is accused of intentionally and unlawfully touching the victim’s buttocks and manhood, according to the court documents.

The minor’s mother was checking on her son through a CCTV camera which she had installed in her house and connected to her phone when she saw the accused person committing the acts on the minor.

She informed a relative who rushed to the house to intervene before she took a vehicle home.

She later reported the matter to the police and shared the video with the detectives who arrested the accused person after gathering evidence.

The suspect denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Mercy Malingu and pleaded for lenient bail and bond terms claiming she is a mother of two children who depend on her.

She was released on a bond of Sh500, 000 without an option of a cash bail. The case will be mentioned on February 15 before hearing starts on March 1 this year.

In October last year, another house help was jailed for 10 years for sexually assaulting a 3-year-old boy.

She was jailed without an option of fine by the magistrate who ruled that minors needed the full protection of the law.

Susan Atieng Eseme 25, admitted committing the indecent act with the employer’s minor at their residence in Ongata Rongai in Kajiado County.

The court heard that it was the minor who disclosed to his father what ‘Auntie’ usually do to him when left alone at home.

Underage children are psychologically traumatized when they are exposed to these sexual escapades at a tender age by persons whose intentions and actions are evil-driven.
