NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 27 – The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has named a new leadership team.
Embu Governor is the new chairperson of the party replacing Johnson Muthama whose nomination to the Parliament Service Commission was recently approved by MPs.
Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has been appointed the new Secretary General replacing Veronica Maina, who was nominated to the Senate by the party.
In a press statement, the party said the changes came after the NEC meeting, where members agreed on the new nominees.
EALA MP Hassan Omar will deputize Ms Mbarire. Omar replaces Kipruto Arap Kirwa who decamped to Azimio la Umoja just before the 2022 general elections.
Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi is the party’s Treasurer, while Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka is the new UDA Organising Secretary, replacing Karisa Nzai.
The leaders will hold the positions on an interim basis until the party holds its elections later this year.
