Parents asked to spend time with their children in order to curb teen pregnancies

Kisii Woman Representative Dorice Donya Aburi has urged parents to take responsibility for monitoring their children during this holiday to curb indiscipline and teen pregnancy cases in the county.

Speaking at Tendere Stadium in Bomachoge Chache during the donation of foodstuff and clothes to the residents through her Donya Charity Mission program, she said that parents should how they spend time with their children so as to make sure that they engage in productive activities.

“We have cases of early pregnancy, HIV and AIDS infections, drugs and substance abuse on the rise. Pregnancies for example are majorly being contributed by close relatives who parents trust to take care of their children,” she said.

Donya said that parents and guardians can determine their children’s future character by disciplining them when they are young, keeping them occupied and knowing the company they keep. She challenged parents to be present in their children’s lives.
