A herder was shot and killed by unknown gunmen in an attack at a village in Harabaloni area, Garbatula, Isiolo County.

The herder was taking care of a herd of camels when he was shot in the head.

The owner of the camels said the victim had failed to return home on June 8 prompting a search in the area.

This was after a missing person report was made to the local police station.

Police and locals conducted a search before the body of the herdsman was found in a tree within the said grazing field.

Police said the victim had a gunshot wound on the head.

The motive of the shooting and those behind the same are yet to be known. The body was moved to the mortuary. Such cases are common in the area.

The camels were not stolen raising suspicion of a targeted attack for probably revenge, police said.

Meanwhile, a man drowned in a dam in Naromoru area, Nyeri.

The victim was in the company of two others and were fetching water from the dam when the incident happened.

Fire engines were called from Nyeri to help retrieve the body but called off the operation on Friday until the following day.
