NAIROBI Kenya June 22 -Felix Orinda who was allegedly shot by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino at a Nairobi club in 2020 has told the court that he did not see the legislator with a firearm on the said day.
Orinda, popularly known as DJ Evolve, spoke while giving his testimony as a defence witness in a misuse of firearm case against the MP on June 22.
While testifying virtually from his bed, the DJ said he does not know what happened to him as he only found himself in an ambulance.
He however acknowledged to the Nairobi court that he was indeed shot and injured by a bullet on the fateful day, but that he does not know from which gun.
The victim further told the court that MP Babu is his friend and that he has been supporting him financially.
“Did you see Babu Owino with a gun?” Defence lawyer Duncan Okatch asked DJ Evolve, to which he responded saying; “No, we were just having conversations.”
DJ Evolve said he was injured by a bullet but did not know from which gun.
“I just found myself in a vehicle to hospital…I came to find out that Babu Owino was supporting me and as a friend I expected my friends to look after me,” he said.
“I received medical care and my utilities and general well-being was taken care of. I am giving out this testimony voluntarily,” he added.
Babu’s private protection officer and personal assistant Edwin Otieno also told the court the legislator’s firearm had jammed the previous day while they were at a shooting range in Karen.
DJ Evolve also told Senior Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi that they were good friends spanning over five years and that Babu it was not the first time Babu was visiting the club.
Last week, Babu told the court that he has so far spent Sh58.6 million in treating and taking care of the victim’s bills.
