HUNAN PROVINCE, China July 2 -Kisii Governor Simba Arati is rooting for extensive China -Kisii trade co-operation and investment in Agriculture, green Energy, infrastructure housing and healthcare.

While attending the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) in ChangSha, Hunan province whose theme is Common Development for a Shared Future, Governor Arati negotiated for expo of agriculture products from Kisii to China.

CAETE is a forum for African countries to showcase their products and create a strategic economic and trade partnership with China.

“I engaged the President of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council Xu Xiangping seeking his support in the uptake of Kisii County agricultural products into the Chinese market and beyond,” Arati said.

Following the negotiations, Xiangping has promised to fast track the exportation of tea, coffee, pyrethrum, cassava, sorghum, banana and Hass avocado directly from Kisii County.

The Hass avocado is a variety of avocado with dark green, bumpy skin.

Xiangping has also promised to create jobs and lobby for investors to construct value addition industries in Kisii County.

It seeks to guide all parties to collaborate and innovate in investment and financing models, project cooperation and business structures to promote high-quality and sustainable development, and jointly contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

On the other hand, the China -Africa Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) co-operation  forum aims to share the experience and practices of SPS and food safety management, introduce the policy for African agricultural and food products to enter China.

It also helps in the exchange information on the effectiveness of the “green channel” for African agricultural and food products exported to China.

Other forums include China-Africa Healthcare Development Forum, China-Africa Agri-Food Supply Chain Cooperation Forum, China-Africa Quality Infrastructure Connectivity Forum, and the China-Africa Private Sector Cooperation Forum among others.
