ISIOLO Kenya June 3 -The bodies of two men who appear to have been tortured and shot dead have been retrieved from a dam in Garbatula, Isiolo County, a security official said.

The men, both aged about 30, had been shot and the bodies dumped there at unknown time and by unknown gunmen.

Police and witnesses said herders had taken their animals to the dam when they stumbled on the bodies.

The bodies had gunshot wounds in the heads and also had bruised mouths and hands.

Blood was also oozing from the mouth and nose.

A juvenile suspect was arrested and is helping in the probe into the incident.

Such cases of shooting of herders is common in the area amid campaigns to address the menace.

Last week on June 26, gunmen attacked and killed two minors in an attack in Loiyangalani, Marsabit County.

Police are investigating the murder of the two juveniles after the attack on June 26.

The bodies were found in Motwolkiteng water point and were identified as those of Brian Mpushe Lekulo aged 12 years and Lponila Lasapicho aged 12 years.

They had bullet wounds when they were discovered, police said.

A third boy aged 16 was found alive with fractured leg and bullet wounds, police said.

It was established that the pupils who are all from Titus Ngoyoni boarding primary school, were on their way to Arapal, when they met seven armed men who opened fire and killed the two.

The gunmen left thinking they had also killed the third victim, police said. The injured pupil was later rushed to Loiyangalani Sub-County hospital for treatment.

Detectives who visited the scene recovered five spent cartridges which have been subjected to ballistic analysis.

There are fears the locals will organize a retaliation on those believed to have attacked the boys.

The area is among places facing cases of insecurity amid ongoing police operations.

Dozens of firearms have been recovered in the operation amid persistent attacks.
