MIGORI Kenya July 4 -There was shock in a village when police shot and killed a man threatened to kill all his family members after he killed a dog and drank its blood in Rongo, Migori County.

The deceased, George Otieno Okoth 40 locked all his family members and threatened to kill them by burning the house in Ndege Oriedo village, Rongo sub-county on the night of July 3.

He then turned his rage to a family dog, killed it, slit its head and drank the blood before starting to chew on the head.

His ten children ran away before the deceased brother ran to Kamagambo police station and reported the incident, police said.

Area police boss Peter Okiring’ said the man armed with panga was unruly when the police arrived there and tried to disarm him.

He said police were forced to shoot in the air severally after attempts and those from his family to tell the man to calm down failed.

It was then they opened fire and killed him. The sharp machete and sharp metal were recovered from the scene, police said.

He said the body was taken to Rosewood Hospital Mortuary as police have launched investigations over the incident. Police linked the issue to mental stress.
