Through the MoU, The SolutionsPaper on June 16 and 17 organized and provided training and editorial guidance on solutions journalism to enable members have a better understanding of solutions-based approach to journalism.

Lekan Otufodunrin, the Executive Director of Media Career Development Network and a patron of The SolutionsPaper was one of the trainers.

Mr Otufodunrin, a passionate media trainer, trained members on Solutions Journalism (SoJo) and how to frame and structure solutions focused stories.

On Thursday August 3, Otufodunrin who was in the country met with the CJAK’s Secretary General, Akello Odenyo where he also gifted the association with two of his journalism books –The Journalist You Ought To Be and Dateline Cardiff: Unforgettable media training experience and impact.

Dateline Cardiff covers the impact of international media training in the career of a journalist; how journalists and other media professionals can maximize the knowledge and opportunities from global media training; and the experience of going for an international media training or fellowship.

It also documents the life and career changing impact of the three months International Advanced Journalism Training at Thomson Foundation in Cardiff, Wales in 1998 by 14 journalists from Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

The Journalist You Ought To Be is a must read and highly recommended for those who want to stand out in the profession.

Otufodunrin, a media expert, journalist, as well as media career development specialist, has also published other books including Purpose Driven Journalism, Excelling in Journalism, Reporter Extraordinaire, and Journalism of My Life.

He has garnered over 30-years meritorious experience in the profession which earned him commendations for outstanding performance before setting up his personal media firm, Media Career Development Network (MCDN), that focuses on training, research, mentorship, and consultancy.

As CJAK, we believe collaboration between trustworthy organizations help them can raise visibility and credibility and bring mutually beneficial publicity. We are proud to have partnered with The SolutionsPaper.

We have, and still hope to learn and gain a lot from this partnership.
