MERU Kenya August 10 -A Meru magistrate court has issued an arrest warrant for an employee of a supermarket in Meru after he skipped court to face charges of assaulting a customer over alleged shoplifting.
Meru Senior Resident Magistrate Maureen Odhiambo ordered police to arrest Patrick Itieng’ Etila, a worker at Maguna supermarket in Makutano area, Meru County after he jumped bail.
He will also forfeit the Sh10,000 police cash bail he had deposited at Meru police station on Monday evening to enable him attend court from home.
Itieng’ and Simon Mwandikwa Matiti are accused of assaulting Lisa Kanario Kiogora on August 2, 2023, thereby causing her bodily harm.

Matiti denied the offence and was released on a Sh7,000 cash bail.
The two are said to have accused the 23-year old Meru Polytechnic student of stealing items worth Sh60.
They dragged her into a secluded section of the supermarket where a female colleague allegedly searched her before the two men started whipping and kicking the woman.
She was only released one hour later after she paid Sh600 ostensibly for the allegedly stolen items which she was not issued with.
A police report alleges that the two men also manhandled Kiogora by indecently touching her buttocks.
She was treated at Nairobi Women hospital with facial swelling, back and hands pain and had visible whip marks on the back. A P3 form indicated that she suffered soft tissue second degree assault.
Ms Odhiambo fixed the mention on August 14, 2023 for direction.
