MOLO, Kenya January 31- Three police officers at Molo Police Station are being investigated after a prisoner escaped while under their watch.
Benson Muchiri, charged with murder at Nakuru High Court was reported missing a day after he left police cells on Monday escorted by three police officers.
Police constable Felix Bett, PC Nyasani and PC Kirui took the accused to court but returned to the station without him.
The three officers claimed that the prisoner became sick in the courtyard on the material date and time and they escorted him to Nakuru PGH Hospital where he was later admitted.
Preliminary investigation has indicated that the three officers did present the accused before the court.
The court cancelled his bond and he was set to be committed back to prison.
Police report at Molo Police Station says PC Nyasani remained with the prisoner in the hospital while PC Felix Bett returned to the station.
The three never informed the OCS or any other officer of the missing prisoner until Tuesday morning.
An inquiry file 1/2024 has been opened to investigate the matter and security agencies’ search for the accused is underway.
