NAIROBI Kenya March 6 -Armed men riding on a motorcycle robbed a United Nations staff of his phones as he was taking an evening walk in Runda, Nairobi on Tuesday night.

Police said the diplomat from the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and working with United Nations United International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) was walking with his dog when he was confronted by the three men at around 8.30pm along Glory Road in Runda.

“One of them removed something resembling a pistol and pointed it at him before ordering him to surrender everything he had,” police said.

They then took his two mobile phones -a Samsung and iPhone -both valued at Sh170,000, before they escaped to unknown destination.

The emergency and humanitarian specialist was however not injured during the incident nor did detectives have any further description of the suspects as of Wednesday morning.

Elsewhere in Huruma in Nairobi, police have launched investigations into the murder of Tobias Oyoo who was stabbed to death on Tuesday morning.

According to the son, the deceased had left the house around 5.20am when he was accosted by four men, all armed with knives and crude weapons.

They robbed him of his phone before stabbing him on the head and both sides of the chest. They however did not steal the Sh2,300 which the deceased had in his pockets, according to the police.

Detectives visited the scene and obtained a CCTV footage from a nearby camera that captured the attack.

The suspects were four, all of dark complexion and they all escaped towards Mathare River, according to the CCTV.
