MACHAKOS Kenya, May 10 -Police have launched investigations into the gruesome murder of a popular Ohangla dancer Sheila Odoyo whose body was found in their matrimonial bed on Thursday, May 9.
The body of Sheila was found at their residence in Hill View estate, Athi River Machakos County in a pool of blood with a deep cut on the throat.
“There were signs of struggle in the bedroom. We are treating the husband as a person of interest. We are however yet to recover the murder weapon,” a detective said.
The Athi River Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Wesley Langat has said the husband, Jackson Bambo 45, is suspected to have killed the wife before escaping to Migori county.
Bambo left the house at around 1am and drove the family car, a Mitsubishi Outlander registration number KDM 798M, to Nairobi city centre and left the car at a parking spot near Kencom, Moi Avenue at around 2.30am.
He gave the parking attendant Sh450 and left with three bags towards Afya Centre along Tom Mboya street.
“Preliminary investigations show that Bambo could have left the house after the killing. We strongly believe the husband is the suspect in this murder,” a senior detective said.
His last phone signals were traced to Narok on Thursday at around 6.26 am before the phone was switched off.
The deceased’s daughter, Linda Akinyi told the detectives that she learnt of her mother’s death when she went to her room to serve her lunch at around 1pm. She added that the father left the house at around 1am without saying anything to them
Both the victim and the suspect were proprietors of an entertainment joint in Nairobi’s Umoja area.
Bambo, a trained teacher, is also the proprietor Light Uriri School, an orphanage and girls rescue centre in Migori county. He is also a member of the East African Wildlife Society, Kenya Red Cross Society and also Kenya Climate Change Task Force.
By Saturday morning, he had not been traced even at his rural home, about 1 kilometre from Uriri town in Migori County.
