NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 2- A Nairobi based lawyer is admitted in hospital after he was stabbed by his girlfriend in a domestic fight in Umoja estate, Nairobi.
The lawyer identified as David Ochieng, 33, was Sunday night rushed to the Mama Lucy hospital with deep stab wounds in the collarbone, stomach and back after the incident in their house.
He was later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital because the wounds were severe, doctors said. He is in stable condition.
Police said they had arrested a 24 year old student at Eldoret University over the incident.
The knife used in the attack was also recovered from the house, police said.
This was after it emerged the woman and the lawyer had fought in the house over a text message in the victim’s mobile phone.
Buruburu police boss Adamson Bungei said they had been informed the woman stumbled on a text message apparently sent by another woman seeking financial assistance.
It was then that the said attacker sought clarification on the sender of the message that a fight arose leading to the stabbing, Bungei said.
The victim had deep wounds that are however not life threatening for now.
The woman was detained at Buruburu police cells ahead of planned court appearance as investigators go on with the probe into the incident.
Cases of domestic violence have been on the rise in the past months over various issues.
The incidents increased since March this year when Covid-19 pandemic was rampant.
