NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 8- Police on Saturday night arrested more than 300 revellers in Umoja, Nairobi, after they were found drinking past the curfew hours.
Those arrested are set to be charged in court on Monday.
Buruburu Police boss Adamson Bungei told Shahidi News that the operation will be sustained, to ensure the COVID-19 rules are adhered to.
Similar operations have seen hundreds arrested across various parts of the city.
“We will not relent,” the police boss said.
In his recent review of COVID-19 protocols, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed all restaurants and bars to be closed at 9pm.
The dusk to dawn curfew starts at 10pm to 4am.
The new measures are meant to curb further spread of coronavirus disease that has so far claimed more than 1,000 lives in the country.
Kenya is currently experiencing an upsurge in the cases of infections with the Ministry Health recording a minimum of 1,000 new cases daily…depending with the tested sample size.
