MACHAKOS, Kenya, Nov 14 – Two suspected cattle rustlers were Saturday morning stoned and burnt to death by an angry mob in Matungulu area within Machakos county.
The suspected cattle rustlers are alleged to have stolen 5 cows in Koma area and were caught in the act of slaughtering them.
It is at this point the residents descended on them with blows and kicks before later stoning them despite their cries for help and forgiveness.
Reports indicate that one of the suspected cattle rustlers died as a result of the stoning while the other was chased down, beaten up before he was lynched.
Three others meanwhile escaped the wrath of the angry mob.
Several kilograms of beef were found in sacks alongside knives.
“When they were found, several residents rushed to the scene and started beating them. Things turned chaotic very quickly,” a resident told Shahidi News.
Area residents said the group has been terrorizing them and slaughtering their animals for months now.
Police officers from the KBC police station in Matungulu arrived at the scene minutes later and transported the bodies to the Kangundo mortuary.
According to police reports, a fortnight ago, residents had filed a complaint of stolen cattle within the same area
