NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 27-The number of people attending weddings has now been reduced to 50 over rising cases of COVID-19 pandemic cases in the country.
The inter-faith council has raised concerns over the cases and ordered that the new measure to be taken immediately as part of ways to contain the spread.
The vice-chair of the council Rev Connie Kivuti said they had consulted with the ministry of health over the issue.
During weddings, she said food will be served to the nuclear family only.
Further, she said the other measures including checking of temperature, washing hands, sanitization and social distancing will continue to be implemented.
For funerals, those attending remains 100 and only 15 will be allowed at gravesites.
Some 1,427 people have so far been killed by the disease in the country in a worrying trend.
On Thursday, the government announced some 780 new COVID-19 pandemic cases out of a sample size of 6,158 cases.
