Police officer who tore BBI signatures book, threw remains in a river arraigned

BOMET, Kenya, Dec 3- A police officer who snatched a Building Bridges Initiative constitution amendment Bill 2020 signature registration book in Bomet County, tore it apart and threw the remains in a nearby river has been arrested.

The officer had asked for the book from Kipreres Sub location sub-chief Robert Katam saying he wanted to append his signature.

The book was later retrieved from the river according to an incident report seen by Shahidi News.

“It is not clear why the officer did that,” a senior officer privy to the incident told Shahidi News.

The police officer is however said to have been drunk during the Wednesday afternoon incident.

The officer is said to be based at Bungoma police station.
