NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 11- Former Cooperative Development Minister Joe Nyagah is dead.
Nyaga died while receiving treatment on Friday at the Nairobi Hospital.
His family who confirmed the death said he died from COVID-19 disease.
Nyagah was born in 1948 and was a member of the then governing Kenya African National Union and a minister in President Daniel Arap Moi’s office until quitting both the ministry and the party in the run-up to the 2002 general election.
He contested elections in Gachoka Constituency as an opposition National Rainbow Coalition candidate.
Nyaga was a member of Orange Democratic Movement’s ‘Pentagon’ in the lead up to the 2007 general election. Pentagon was a leadership organ in the party.
Deputy President William Ruto who was a member of pentagon said Nyagah was amiable, steadfast and a dedicated campaigner for a better, more cohesive, more inclusive and more transformed Kenya.
