MURANG’A, Kenya, Dec 17 – Police on Thursday retrieved the body of an unidentified minor that was dumped on a farm in Murang’a County.
The minor’s head, remains of the stomach and legs had been stashed in a carton box.
The remains were discovered by residents of Manyatta village, who in return notified the farm owner.
The owner of the farm Njuguna Muiruri reported the incident to the Saba-Saba Police Station.
What has left him, and the entire village shocked and confused is whether the body belonged to his grandchild who was reportedly abducted on 13, Sunday, 2020.
According to Muiruri who filed a police report at the Makuyu Police Station DCI offices, his grandchild was abducted by his former farmhand.
He reported that the suspect had attempted to extort him Sh50,000 in order to bring the seven-year-old boy back home.
“This past Sunday my farmhand called me and said that he took my grandchild and that he would only bring him back once I paid him the money, I owed him. I quickly sent him Sh4,000 to his phone but still refused to bring him back. He instead demanded for Sh50,000,” Njuguna Muiruri, grandfather missing child.
The farmhand is thereafter said to have cut phone ties with the family of the abducted 7-year-old boy.
Detectives told Shahidi News that they were able to trace his mobile phone in Nairobi, around Kangemi area.
The family has cast doubts of the body remains found at the farm belongs to their kin.
“The recovered body looks like that of a young child even if it was chopped up, I however don’t think it is of my grandchild,” Said Muiruri.
Detectives are now expected to conduct forensic tests and a DNA examination to determine whether the body is of another child or the reported missing boy.
Meanwhile, the farmhand is now demanding Sh40,000 as police narrow on his whereabouts.
