KIAMBAA, Kenya, Jan 6- Five members of a family were found murdered in their home in Kagongo Karura village, Kiambu county.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation’s homicide unit were called to investigate the macabre discovery.
Witnesses said the victims include a father, mother, their two children and a niece.
The witnesses said the body of the father was found lying outside the house within the compound while the rest were found murdered inside the house.
The mystery of the murder started Monday when the body of the family’s casual labourer was found in a nearby building site with injuries prompting police to launch investigations into the matter.
It later evolved with the mobile phones of the other family members not being reached.
This led police investigations to discovering the other bodies inside the house on Wednesday morning.
The victims had been brutally murdered with blunt objects, police said.
Kiambaa police boss Michael Muchiri said experts are investigating the incident which he termed murder.
He said police were forced to break into the house to retrieve the bodies that were in bad shape.
“This looks pure murder. Experts are on the ground to know what happened and the motive behind it,” he said.
He said the experts were working on several leads into the murder.
