EMBU, Kenya, Jan 14 –A 4-year-old who went missing 3 weeks ago has been found dead.
Police in Mbeere North retrieved the body of the child, who has been identified as Brayden Mutwiri.
The body of the deceased was discovered and retrieved along the Thuci River in Embu county.
It was almost unrecognizable since it had already started decomposing.
According to the area chief Charles Njeru, search and rescue operation for the deceased who mysteriously went missing from his home had been ongoing.
“After the boy was reported missing, authorities have been trying to trace him for a while, however received information that a body was seen along the river. We believe it is him, but a postmortem must be conducted first,” chief Njeru said.
Police told Shahidi news investigations are already underway on who committed the heinous act, which they say is linked to “ritual killings.”
On Monday detectives from the directorate of criminal investigations arrested a class eight pupil who is suspected to have lured the boy before allegedly killing him.
The suspect on Wednesday directed the sleuths from Siakago to the location where the decomposed the body of the deceased was found.
Police are seeking other individuals believed to have played a role in the killing.
According to the deceased’s uncle, Nephat Nyaga, the suspect had initially confessed to them that their kin had been killed.
“He claimed to have been used by individuals to trick and lure our boy before they killed him and poured his blood into the river as part of a sacrifice,” the deceased uncle said.
This is the second incident of such nature.
Three months ago, a girl was reported missing, and shortly after her body retrieved from the same river.
The deceased family is now living in fear of possible attacks.
They are calling on the investigating officers to protect them and get justice for their son.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the Siakago hospital mortuary.
