Outrage as city varsity student found dead in hostel

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 8- A fourth year University of Nairobi student was on Monday found dead inside his hostel room, in mysterious circumstances.

It’s not yet clear what caused the student’s death though police say he was not supposed to be in school.

Following his death, students took to the streets on Monday, demanding to know what caused his death.

Police used teargas to disperse the protesting students.

The body of the fourth year student was discovered in their hostels long after it had happened.

The students had blocked parts of University Way and Lower State House Road for a short while before police moved in to disperse them.

Central Police boss Mark Wanjala said Investigations are underway to establish the circumstances that led to the student’s death.

“He was a fourth year student and we don’t know what he was doing at the hostels because we understand his group is yet to report,” the police boss said.
