NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 9-After spending a few hours in hospital over stomach pains, former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was rushed to Kiambu courts, amidst drama

Earlier on Monday, Police rushed former Sonko to hospital, after he complained of stomach pains.

The former Nairobi county boss was however put in the docks with a paramedic by his side on standby incase of any medical complications as requested by his lawyers.

The governor was due for two key rulings on Tuesday, one in Kiambu and another in Kahawa Sukari.

The rulings will determine whether the Governor will be condemned for more time in police custody.

“He was rushed to Nairobi hospital while aboard an ambulance,” a senior officer privy to the incident told Shahidi News.

The Governor has spent several days in police custody at Gigiri police station.

“He was admitted in a stable condition,” an aide who visited him at the hospital said.

Earlier on Monday, a group of politicians led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka had visited the former governor at the police cells.

The former Vice President was in the presence of Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr.

The leaders even got a chance to pose for a picture with Sonko, outside the police station.

The move is said to have caused discomfort in the senior ranks of the National Police Service.

A Kiambu Magistrate’s court will first rule on his application to be released on bond in a multiple case of assault and robbery he is facing.

Then a Kahawa West court was to make a ruling on an application by police to be allowed to detain Sonko for 30 days as they investigate terror related charges.

His legal team is concerned with reports police plan to revive old cases that they believe were settled.

Head of Anti-Terrorism Police Unit John Gachomo said they are holding nine men believed to be aides to the former governor.

He said the nine will be presented in the anti-terrorism court in Kamiti alongside Sonko.

Police want to hold Sonko and the nine aides for 30 days as they investigate terror claims.

He is also facing several other assault and robbery cases in Kiambu court.
