NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 14- The National Police Service has deployed a special security team in Isiolo, following the recent killing of 6 people.
Tension has been high, with intelligence reports indicating that there were plans for retaliation.
The attack happened between two communities at the Buffalo Springs game reserve.
“We do not want further bloodshed,” a senior security officer based in Isiolo and privy to the ongoing peace efforts told Shahidi News.
Isiolo County Commissioner Herman Shambi said the attackers from the Samburu side had attempted to steal livestock from Turkana herders who resisted, and a gun battle ensued.
Five attackers from the Samburu side and one Turkana herder were killed during the shootout.
This has stocked tension in the area since the weekend incident happened.
Shambi has asked communities in Isiolo County to respect each other’s grazing zones to avert further flare ups.
