NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 17- Security expert cum-politician Mwenda Mbijiwe has gone missing.
A report has been made at the Central Police Station in Nairobi, Shahidi News has established.
Mbijiwe is said to have gone missing on Saturday, June 12, while enroute to Meru- his paternal home.
At the point, he was using a hired car and was accompanied by a friend, said to be a police officer, who was in a different vehicle- equally hired.
“His phone has never been switched for this long,” a concerned friend who sought anonymity said.
But upon reaching Thika, his friends corroborating their testimonials with details from the car hire firm, said his vehicle’s signal went off.
His phone has also been switched off, since then.
The phone signal was last seen in Thika according to police.
Mbijiwe has been eyeing the Meru Gubernatorial seat and is expected to give a second attempt in 2022.
He was at some point a soldier with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
His last Facebook post was on June 11, a day before he went missing, where he castigated the Judiciary for alleged activism.
“What you are witnessing in Kenya now is the rise of judicial activism and the self-assertion of radical judges. These will in not-so-far future transform into legislators of law. They will usurp the power of the executive and the legislature and change laws at will. One day the supreme court of Kenya will declare that abortion is legal; same-sex marriages are legal and many other things. That day, we will be helpless to say no. We will stand there hopelessly as they change our constitution. Endeleeni kuwapigia makofi na kutusi rais (continue cheering them and insulting the president),” reads the 3.05pm post.
