NAIROBI,Kenya, June 4 – The family of Deputy Inspector General of police Edward Mbugua is in mourning after a grisly road accident Thursday claimed the life of their daughter.
The 25 year-old was killed along Moi avenue in the Nairobi central business district (CBD) shortly after alighting from a matatu.
Though she was rushed to hospital, she was shortly after pronounced dead while receiving treatment.
The accident occurred at around 8am. Police have since arrested a matatu driver involved in the accident.
He is set to be charged with the offense of causing death by dangerous driving.
The body of the deceased is being preserved at the Kenyatta University Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), more than three thousand people are killed in road accidents across the country.
